Summary History Calendar Teams

The best squad attack throughout the league, with the most destructive perfect tactics, that's what it was like Gamblers led by quarterback Jim KELLY in 1984. The Houston statistics lined up 1162 points in two seasons, threw for 5,219 yards, Kelly passes for 44 touchdowns in his rookie year, completed the following year by 4623 yards and 39 touchdowns while rata part of the season to injury.

Oh, of course, only one QB can not do anything, but like him when you were assisted by Gerald MCNEIL, Clarence VERDIN, Richard JOHNSON, Ricky SANDERS and many others, you risked much. This euphoria allowed the team finished its inaugural season on a very satisfactory 13 wins to 5 losses, opening the doors of the playoffs. This was a hard return to reality. The victory was gained when, while there were only 6 minutes 11 seconds of the game, the Arizona Wranglers marked two touchdowns on to eventually win 17-16.

1985 does not announce well. With the displacement of the USFL games from spring to autumn, supporters had fled (nearly 9,000 less per game), combined injury of Jim Kelly, and the previous "dream season" veered nightmare. At the end of the regular season, the Gamblers offirent is still a ticket to the playoffs, facing the Birmingham Stallions. 22-21 conducted by them (after 5 successful kick for Birmingham Jim MILLER), a last chance offered to Tony FRITCH to win for Gamblers ... but it was the failure and defeat by new a point of difference in the playoffs.

Houston was a promising team, spectacular, which would have a bright future without the vagaries of the league. A beautiful touchdown that was never completed ...
