Summary History Calendar Teams

Jacksonville is the most beautiful example of a merger between a population and a football team. By moving to Jacksonville, BULLARD Fred knew he could count on several major advantages CSONKA as Larry, Jim KICK or Larry Munson, the owner of a local radio station that already officiated for many years with the college football team Georgia Bulldogs, but also with the NFL team the Atlanta Falcons.

This local presence, but especially this close link with the population allowed the franchise to align better attendances at the stadium during the two seasons played, an average of 45,000 people. The climax will be reached even 4 March 1984 avfec 73,227 people for the match between the New Jersey Generals (lost 26-28).

The coach Lindy Infante, could not really rely on a competitive team, where players were absent talented, but he arrived, however, to maintain a good level and offer good resistance, despite a season ended with six victories for 12 losses. Infante was, however, laid the foundation for the team in 1985 and the coming runningback Mike ROZIER in the offseason, seconded by Vaughan JOHNSON (LB), Alton ALEXIS (WR) or Brian FRANCO (K), allowed the team to achieve parity of 9 wins for many defeats.

When USFL died in 1986, the loss of the team was heavily felt, it was not surprising therefore to see the NFL create, in 1995, a new franchise Jacksonville Jaguars..
